The purpose of an intercooler is to cool (making denser) the compressed air (heated by the act of compression). Since most roots type blowers mount directly to the intake manifold the intercooler would need to be sandwiched between the blower and the manifold, puts it pretty high up and makes the plumbing interesting depending on whether you cool with air or "water". There are other roots blowers that discharge through the front/back/or side and again, more plumbing issues.

It's not impossible, just not frequently done.

This opens a whole can of worms.

What octane you planning to run? What's your compression ratio? How much boost? What heads are on it? Have the heads been ported or had the chambers reworked? What are the specs on the cam?

All these have to be figured in to see if if an intercooler (really it's an aftercooler) will be necessary for your application. Aftercooling is ALWAYS beneficial but not always necessary.

Edit: This may give you a basic idea of what you are looking at for an aftercooler
