    So lost. Please help.

I've searched and still come up lost. . Thanks for taking the time to hear me out.

So I'm looking to build a 350 for a 72 Monte Carlo. I want it around 500hp to the wheels. It will be turbocharged. I've been looking around for some low compression pistons for a 350 and I have found a few. But the lowest compression ive seen is around 8.5:1. Would that be low enough for a twin turbo 350? I'm use to imports, so I'm not clueless to engines in general. But when it comes to american muscle and forced induction, me and my dad are both clueless. And shops around here are no use. They keep suggesting bigger is better and the bottle. . Not what I'm looking for. So if anyone could offer a little advice, or point me in the right direction, that would be great!

You might look at edelbrock at their packages. They have all the specs and dyno results on the site.

I can see why your locals are saying go big. You can pretty easily ($12k ROM) get 500 hp to the rear wheels with a 548-572 BBC and still run pump gas. No bottle needed either. To do that with a 350 with twin turbos is gonna be fraught with issues IMO. And that engine will likely wind up costing more than the naturally aspirated BBC on pump gas. And it will not have the torque curve anywhere near the BBC in the low and mid range.

All that said you probably want to start the CR at 8:1. You are going to need the best of all parts in all engine areas as well. I don't know of anyone producing twin turbo kits for a '72 Monte so there will be a lot of engineering and customizing required along the way.

Custom work is no big deal for me. I've done plenty, and I have the resources and help to do it agian. I know that 500 wheel horsepower out of a turbo 350 can't be that hard to achive. I've done it on a motor with less than half the displacement. My ex's dad is running near 500 NA hp out of a 355 in their 68 Camaro.

In all honesty, would using a LSX based engine be easier? Cus I know those can handle alot with minimal work to the engine.

look for blower pistions, lots of them run 7.5-7.8:1 compression, because of turbo lag, just run a diffrent cylinder head to get 8.1:1.. you could shave a set of 76cc heads to give you what you need

I know where Nashcar is coming from, he is the dare to be different kind of guy. You can squeeze alot more then 500 rrh out of a twin turbo 350, getting it all to work together correctly is the hard part. I would call cam companies, turbo companies, piston makers, and head builders to get their suggestions. Your not the 1st to do this and they probably have a good amount of experiencs in this field by now. I went to our local strip a few weeks ago and walked around, I would bet 35% of the feild were turbo car V8's. Good luck in your quest and keep us posted.

well i like to think i am a dare to be different guy???? well i am sure in the hell know i am different.. around here B C there is many small engines 327/383 that s not different . but getting back to your question .what cc head chamber you have? the pistons are ez to find JE srp ross and others make a dish shelf piston you could go with 8to1 a bit hi but you need water to air or air to air intercooler you would want to drop a point would be better if your not going this way and not boosting much then the 8to1 could work

If you are thinking that route, Go start reading here:

Quite a number of folks are going the turbo route with the LSx motors with good results.

Of course, that's just my opinion, I could be wrong!
