when I first started dating barb ( my wife) she had a 79 malibu, It ran good, but I assumed it was a V6 because it was so guttless. When I had to replace the lower radiator hose on it I was shocked to find a v8 under the hood... it was the miserable 267. I wouldnt spend any money on a 267 or a 262. They really have no potential for performance.75 GMC C-15 factory 454, automatic, lowered

I had one in my first car a 79 monte carlo its a peice of crap first week I had it the rockers worked loose then it spun a bearing shortly after...If its free or really cheap and runs good I wouldn't pass it up for some type of cruiser project other than making noise and going no where fast thats all it can do. Everything small block chev works cams intakes headers etc just not worth the effort.like a volvo with gun racks.....
dropin f-bombs whenever needed....fcc my

Just so i know for monday, i looked at the mortec.com/locations.htm or somthing like that, i understood where the pad would be behind the alternator but if it is under the timing chain cover mounting surface can i remove the cover and replace it without needing a new gasket so i do not damage the motor( it will be sitting another 3 months )?You don't know what you've got til it's gone

With GM Really trying to make emissions engines back in the late 70s/early80s, it takes a lot of comittment to make a performer. I tried to break to 250HP mark with my 260 olds, diddnt happen. It ended at 200, with more $ in the engine then in the car itself. It can be made to move, but at the cost of another car. Listen to the others, swap that sucker.Right engine, Wrong Wheels

I plan to swap it out as i can probably sell it for what i paid for the impala itself and still have the transmission. You don't know what you've got til it's gone

hey, man, lay off. You also have to remember, there is a little thing that V8s make called torque. I would estimate that the 4.4 would make somewhere in the neighborhood of 190 ft-lbs. What does your little 1.9 make in torque pal?Right engine, Wrong Wheels

DRG I still wouldnt call it balsy, especially ina Impala or carprice or whatever he said its in.
I love SB Chevys, but the 262 & 267 V8s arent worth defending. LOL75 GMC C-15 factory 454, automatic, lowered
