HELP - Induction/carb setup recommendation for a 327
OK, I really want to get an Offy 4x2 with Rochester 2G carbs OR an Offy/Edlebrock crossram with 390/450 Holley carbs (I prefer the side by side carb configuration of the Edlebrock X-C8 over the staggered carb configuration of the Offenhauser manifolds) for my 327 BUT since I am new to Chevy ownership, I know NOTHING about the "streetability/driveability" of either of these induction setups. Any advice/info from you more knowledgeable folks would certainly be appreciated!! I'm also considering the 4 45mm Weber sidedraft carb crossram. THANKS!!!

Sounds like you may be going for a semi "bad boy" traditional look.
You might want to go to a magazine stand and find a copy of Hot Rod Deluxe. They've got a well written article on the new Barry Grant Demon 98 carbs and intake manifold. The manifold has a removable/interchangeable top that will take a variety of carb count up to 6 for the sbc. They did what they claim are honest dyno tests for torque and hp. What makes it appear honest to me is that they base lined against a Demon 4 barrel and admitted the single 4 bbl did a better job in producing torque and hp, but of course the multiple 2 barrels have "the look". Look at this page, half way down, for more info on the carb itself; http://www.thehotrodcompany.com/shop...asp?dept_id=50
But I encourage you to read the above noted article too, good info there.Your Uncle Bob, Senior Geezer Curmudgeon
