heads and cam for my mild 79 350
hi guys thanks in advance for any replies i get i am a new member and love how much info this site has. Ok i have a 79 350 with 882 heads decked .50, edelbrock intake and carb, shorty headers, procomp distributor, th350, with b&m shift kit. The motor has under 700 miles on it from a rebuild so heads have just been done i dont like the cam in it its a crane 100132 222 duration @50 467 lift with 110 lsa to smooth i need a cam that sounds nasty i want that crackle sound without losing performance, what should i get. Ive done a little research and this is what im thinking a set of heads i have a set of14101083 to push up my compression or do i need vortecs? ive heard good things about crane274H06 the lift is lower than the cam i have now but the lsa is 106 so it should sound better?Should i need a stall with this set up? thanks alot guys great site
Oh yeah the car is a 85 monte carlo ss 3500 lbs i think 3.73 non posi

well ive done a little more research and this is my plan hope somebody responds. I am going to get a set of 062 vortecs, edelbrock performer intake, get the thin felpro gasket and the 270 mega cam has same duration and lift as the energizer cam i have with 108 lsa

Have you checked into the "Thumper" series of cams that Comp Cams sells. They are designed to give a nasty sounding idle without sacrificing drivability.I may not be good but I sure am slow

If I were a motor head I'd tell ya, but I just take them down and put them back together with help from friends... Lots of good engine guys here, you'll get a reply soon... Might be helpful if you let them know how you want this setup for... race, street rod, everyday driver, etc...Life is not a dress rehearsal… Live each day to it’s fullest!

yeah i looked into those thumpers but the lift was to high for vortecs i just wanna use some z28 springs on the heads. The car is a street rod a little racing for fun i have a heavy foot though.
