Not another 283 buildup
I recently aquirred a 1967 suburban it has the original 283 with truck 4 speed. Now I'm not saying this thing is a screamer by any means but it runs fairly well smokes a little at startup. Now I still have my other 283 residing in my garage having decided to keep my big block in my truck. I know half of you guys will think i'm nutts but i'm seriously thinking of building my spare 283 for the 'burb. Plans would call for either HO305 heads or Vortecs. 268 High Energy Comp Cam (its leftover from another project), ramhorn manifolds, Edelbrock 500 cfm carb, 2 1/2" flowmaster exhaust. I'd like 250+ horse and 320ish foot pounds torque. So i guess my question to anyone who wants to weigh in is do you think the intake runner would be to big for such a small motor???? I'm speaking of the vortecs bty. Thanks again and please dont tell me to sell the 283's they're coming out my ears and I dont think I could get much for them.
