i build and machine engines stock to race engines. them pj gear drives make good paper weights. if you know any thing about what they do and how they work you would not use one. the power stroke is not as smooth as one would think with the floating idler gears they turn the cam gear in to a ratchet and add harmonics they are not a donovan or milodon 3 gear drive they are not really the same but still strait cut steel gears will add harmonics if you can tell me how much is good for any engine? or to much you will know things bustless is better and that would be a chain or belt drive.no gear drives in any engines i build

I had one and couldn't wait to take it off, ok someone tell me why a gear drive is better for a street engine? IMO they are about as useful as a pair of fuzzy dice, a total waste of money on a street engine. They make a great paper weight but a rock is cheaper. My last word is this, I'm not a NASA scientist or pro engine builder like some of you guys, I'm just a regular guy that believes in practicality, and to me spending hundreds on a gear drive for the street, just for the noise is, well, impractical when they sell quality chains. Hey now wait a minute!!!! I get a brand new pair of color coordinated fuzzy dice for every car I build for myself!!!!!
Last Pete Jackson gear drive I bought was in '74.... It broke 2nd night out and went back to a chain and gears....
Fuzzy dice are cheap and don't break!!!!!Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, Live for Today!

Ditto on the model kits! My best were lost when the Hobby Shop burned under suspicious circumstances....
How did you get hooked on cars?
