    Fan Quit Working????

I was at my first car show today and everything ran great but on the way home I noticed my fan quit working. I tested the fan and it's fine, the fuse is good.....now what.

Is there any way to test the sender, I suspect that's it cause it's cracked (overtightened it) and a little lose. I can't see any other problems other than a faulty relay but would that just quit after two days.

    Help please!

    Thanks,
    Sean

i do not run a sender just a relay and a switch. the sender should work on the ground side of the relay take the wire off the sender and ground it the fan should run

Okay now I got the car all jacked up and checked all the wiring, nothing appears to be wrong.

I tried grounding the sender and all I get is a click from the relay but no power coming through to the fan???

So from this, correct me if I'm wrong:
the power from the battery is good,
the wire to the ignition is good,
    the fan is good,
    the sender MAY be good,
either the relay is no good or the yellow wire from the relay to the fan is cut.

Now how do I test the relay?? I'll go check the yellow wire while I wait.

    Thanks again Pat,
    Sean

the main power going to the fan 12 volt side going to fan your relay could be out to lunch .some fans on start up take alot of amps you need a hi amp relay look at your ground off the fan as well you can make a test light out of a old side marker or any car 12 volt light or buy one check if your getting 12 volts thru your yellow wire if not get on it at the relay that will tell you if the wire or relay is good if it getting 12 v then look at your ground off fan

    I think I got it.

I tested all the wires from one end to the relay for continuity, all checked out okay. Then with the main power from the battery to the relay and there was something missing. I pulled out the cb and it wasn't blown but one of the tabs was cracked, must've been when I put it in and it just finally came apart.

I put a new one in and the fan blows again. Now I gotta go for a drive to see if that sender still works, finally the fun part.

Thanks a lot for your help Pat,

    Sean
