    400 Main Bearings?

I'm building a 406, the mains were turned 0.001" under. I plastagauged the mains this past weekend, the clearance was only 0.002". There was a quality issue with the bearings, so I'm getting new bearings, but I was going to go with King bearings, but I can only find them in STD or 0.010"... My question is can I go with STD King bearings or should I go with 0.001" bearings from another brand?( I had Clevite's before)

you can get kings in 001 if you go to a H bearing . if you had clevite s then why not use them ? they are ok most of the time . i use kings but they can come in bettter on wall size on bearing to bearing out of the box. but may not come in at the same clearance as what you had in the engine . i do not use plastigauge for hand fitting the bearings. you may want to check it with a bore gauge. i would start at a std king race bearing if for HP use.what happen to the old bearings ?

My clevite's had some pitting issues. They were new out of the box and almost half had issues.

I scuffed them through to copper before the material was removed.
