the never-ending 400 story
I am putting together my 400 last week. I got the whole bottom end together just to realize that the cam lobes of no. 2 and no.5 contact the connecting rods. I thought it wasn't going to be an issue because I bought capscrew style rods?.... Anyway I had the whole thing balanced. I talked to the machinst, he believes that, as long as I do all of them equal it shouldn't need to be rebalanced. How much, if an, off the current weight should I be worried about?

you can nip the rods. you should have 060 of room. you could just nip the two rods. would not throw it off that much. i would nip all the rods so there somewhat the same. they make a stroker rod with cap screws you must of not pick that rod to use . you can run a small base circle cam that helps to.no you should not need to rebalance the engine if you just do the two or all of them you will be okLast edited by pat mccarthy; 12-08-2009 at 08:17 AM.

the problem I ran into with this, is with hydrolic lifters, you cannot run a small enough base circle to clear unmachined rod bolts.
you will have to buff the heads of the bolts on the inside edge.

If your wife has a friend that annoys you don't tell your wife to stop being friends with her. Just casually mention how pretty she is... .
