New SBC drag racing build questions
I just got a FED and going to run a SBC in it. I have a stock bore 4 bolt block and dart sportsman II heads. I would like to get a forged rotating assembly but there are a lot of different stroke/rod combinations. So I am looking for any suggestions or pros/cons on what bore/stroke combo to get and how much HP are the sportsman II heads capable of? I am planning on running a solid roller cam as well.
thanks
Scott

I would think a 383 stroker kit would be the way to go. They make good power and I think they go in with little machining if any. But our engine building experts on here will have definitive info for you, I'm sure.

383 will work its not a drop in sometimes you have to run a small base cam .the rods if a storker H beam will take no work to the block or less work .or a cap screw I beam rod will work but you may have more work . you can run the 6 inch rod or the 5.7 rod thats up to you . as for the head you meen world sportsman II heads not darts? i would think they will work ok but i would do some work to them. gear it for TQ. them heads may loose some steam in hirer RPMsIrish Diplomacy ..the ability to tell someone to go to Hell ,,So that they will look forward to to the trip

Thanks for the responses, looks like I will probably go with the 383 setup with H beam rods. Looking at SCAT, Eagle and Lunati brand rotating assemblies. Anyone have any comments good or bad with any of these. Pat what do you mean by small base cam (smaller lift?)? And yes I meant world products sportsman II.
thanks
