Getting more power
So i have a weird little project, big motor small car. Im sure u guys have seen all the 350's in the fiero's out there. Well im one of them. I was wondering i slapped on 1 1/2 headers, and i plan on upgrading my heads and was wondering will 1 1/2 headers with 2 1/2 collectors restrict me bad? I'm just starting to get into SBC world. Thanks alot

what kind of power are you going to be making? and the headers probibly don't have much of an exhaust(back pressure) behind them. do a search, there is a guy on here with a 454 fiero, ask what he is running.

Oh wow 454 thats pretty crazy. Right now im only making 320 hp with 882 casting heads. Which i believe are the L-82 smogger heads the casting number is 333882. Im using the GM goodwrench 290hp block. I read alot about if i change my heads and cam setup i should gain tremendous amounts of hp upwards to about 50-75 hp. i want about 400-450 hp. Also i was wondering if i wanna make about 400-450 hp what kind of other mods could i be doing aswell to help achieve my goal? Right now im running edelbrock performer rpm intake, headman 1 1/2inch headers with a 2 1/2 collector. 2.25 exhaust with small glass packs on. Holley 570 cfm vacuum secondary electric choke street avenger. CSR highflo water pump. Moroso Crankcase Evacuation System with catch can. Any suggestions will help so much. Thanks alot guys . Prox

I don't think the 570 will be enough carb for your hp goals. I think it is right for what you have now. you could add a supercharger or nos other than that, you pretty much covered it with heads and cam.remember in the 290 block, you most likely have cast pistonsand so on. it's meant to be a standard replacement engine, not a strip beast.

Might also want to rethink the header size... Getting the air in is important, but having the volume to get the exhaust out is equally important.. Might want to get a size bigger on the primaries and the collectors.Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, Live for Today!

I heard alot of people runnning the 671 supercharger on the 290 motor because of the nice low compression you can get a solid 6-8 psi with ease. But what do you think about a good pair of dart II iron heads and a semi aggressive cam, You think the gains in hp and the cost would be closer? or do you think supercharger? I wanna stay away from the happy juice :P.

Are the current headers im using, Only reason why is i picked the headers is because the collectors are 3 1/2 inches away from my half shaft. I really wanted to go 1 3/4 and 3 inch primary, Just for the fact that i knew in the near future i was gonna go More hp, different heads different cam and stuff like that so the headers flow the same as that. If i knew a company that would make them to exact spec as these headers just different primary and 3inch collector i would get them to make me them. Do you happen to know of anyone that is willing to make them to the spec's that wont rape me a new one? Thanks alot prox
