The cam is the last thing to buy for a motor. Wait until you are all done with everything else, then get on the horn to your favorite cam grinder. Talk to a tech there and get a recommendation.PLANET EARTH, INSANE ASYLUM FOR THE UNIVERSE.

well you could on small engine s but the cam is the first thing i buy . after working out how much rpm were i want the prower band and cr .on big engines you need to know how much lift for the piston valve fly cut . valve lifte hitting guids seal . base circle to clear the rods, i build engine every week this has been i always done it . i done it wrong all this timeIrish Diplomacy ..the ability to tell someone to go to Hell ,,So that they will look forward to to the trip

i want peak rpm to be between 5500 and 6000 cause i know thats all the block and tpi system is good for. C/R with stock pistons and vortec heads is about 9 or 9.5/1 thinkin i want to deck the block so 10 to 1? but i havent chosen a cam yet i know i want LOTS of lift and a roller cam seems to me to be the best option plus i already have the parts available

]ok so i got ahold of acomputer dyno sym program thats KILLER! its only a 2 week demo but its incredibly dynamic you can input just about any spec possible for small block chevy and about any other motor you can imagine either. ok enough @$$ kissing on my part link follows:

anyway i told you that to show you the specs for the motor this thread is about just want opinions but i think this is the optimum combo
w/ 10.1 to 1 static compression, 8.07 dynamic compression as noted below, .030 overbore, gapless low tension rings, tuned port injection w/ 44lb injectors, fueled by e85 (higher octane for compression ) and about 20 hours of tweaking cam specs to get optimum performance up 6000 rpm redline.
