    350 starter problems

Hi This question has probably been answered already but here goes I just bought an 83 camaro it has a 74 350 truck motor high rise intake and 4 barrel carb cam has been changed but I believe the crank is stock. It started fine yesterday drove it home about 70 miles this morning the starter grinds like crazy and won't turn the motor. I'm guessing that it is not engageing far enough into the flywheel. any ideas on why this would happen just after driving it once. The guy I got it from says he's never had starter problems with the car. yes it has headers could heat cause this?

You are going to have to take it off and take a look to find out the problem.
Could be the flywheel/flexplate or the starter might be not engaging fully.......a quick look in there will tell the story.
The starter could be loose too...further investigation is needed.
Its gunna take longer than u thought and its gunna cost more too(plan ahead!)

Make sure you are using the correct starter bolts. Also that you have the little bracket from the block to the starter at the front of the starter. GM didn't put them on there to do nothing.

I had a similar problem and yes - the bolts were loose! As mentioned above, use the correct ones (murder tight) and make sure all bolts and brackets are in place.
