Keeping it simple. SBC.
First I'd like to say HELLO to all of you. I have been reading(Lurking) for some time now and signed up yesterday.
I have been out of hot rods for a long while due to heath issues and other hobbies(Bass fishing) But now I want to build a motor for my truck and combine the best of both worlds.
My truck is a pristine 92 chevy 4x4 350/700r4 stock but have added shorty headers dues to manifold breakage and true duals.
I have an 88 1pc seal block that will be going to the shop next week for....
#1. cleaning, magnaflux
#2. bore, deck, cam bearing, freeze plugs,
I will not be using the OEM heads(193's) but going with a new set of GM proformance cast iron 202/160 guide plates, studs.
Rpm air gap intake, 600-650 vac sec.
I would like to keep it simple with a carb set up, HEI, flat tops, drive gear, 270 cam, that will run another 200k with reg maintance but also have a little pep in its step and sound a lot better than a stocker.
Being out of the loop for a while now, is still a good set up for 300-325hp and 340-360ft pnd
Again thanks for having me and hope to talk to y'all soon
Jimmy

Welcome to the forum. Looks like a good plan, the only change I would make is the drive gear thing (If that means gear drive timing set). The noise alone will drive you back to bass fishing real quick (especially if you want to get 200,000 miles out of it), and the longevity might not be exactly what you would get from a quality double roller setup.

Welcome Jimmy:
Sounds like a sweet build - except the drive gear (gear drive) for the cam - they're from the devil and whine like a cat with it's tail in a vise. I'd go a good top tier true double roller timing set. COMP Cams 2100 sells for $29.95 from Summit and is a great fit for this build..

Thanks for all the Welcomes.
And after reading y'alls thoughts on the drive gear, it sounds like I might need to rethink that and go with a true double roller set. Thanks for the insight on them.
I'm not getting in any hurry to get this build just taking my time and having some fun with it.
Next question.????
Is there any site that have build sheets/specs for builds. I may want to look at others and maybe "tweek" mine just a little.
