looking for input on build plan

I was thinking about buying a goodwrench 350 for my 64 stepside, but a friend of mine gave me a one piece, roller block and a 700r4 so now i am thinking about building a better small block. here is my rough draft of my daily driver sb.

    1. 383 externaly balanced rotating assy from eagle. 9.7to 1 compression with 64ccs
    2. new vortec heads from jegs(plan to have greens machine port match and bowl blend for 200$
    3. performer rpm vortec
    4. holley street avenger 670
    5. comp 270h and 1.5 jegs roler rockers
    6. 1 5/8 hooker long tubes with duel 2.5s w/xpipe and flows
    7. 700r4, 2000stall, 3.42s

So what kinda power is this worth and is it a decent street motor?

Pat and some of the other engine builders on here have mentioned that because of machining errors, they prefer Scat products over Eagle...might want to get some input from Pat, Jerry, and some of the other builders about the quality of the stroker kits available....

383 ok. Externally balanced ok. 9.7:1 ok. Eagle, not so ok. Lots of bad juju on the boards, posted by machine shop guys who build 'em for a living.

L31's (170cc intake runners) work great on a 355 , but the 383's need a little more intake runner volume, maybe like 190. A rule of thumb is cubic inches times 1/2 equals intake runner volume for a street or street/strip motor.
I wouldn't do a port match anyways, you end up with a runner that looks like a python swallowed a pig. When the mixture goes through the larger area, the flow slows and the fuel drops out of suspension. If you study fluid dynamics, you'll see that the lion's share of the flow goes right down the middle. Ever stand and watch a river or fast stream? All the flow goes fast down the middle. At the banks, the water barely moves at all. So save your money as far as port matching. That's my best amateur advice. Now, a professional shop may tell you...."Oh yeah, port matching is the best thing since sliced bread." That may be because the operator is extracting money from your bank account to do the labor. It may also be because it is in reality the best thing since sliced bread. You must determine the reality of these things for yourself. It has also been stated by other people (supposedly people in the know), that any work you do to an L31 bowl will only be detrimental to the flow of the heads. Rumor has it that the best you can do is put a back cut on the valves and bolt the heads on.

Best manifold for a street or street/strip motor in my opinion. RPM or Weiand Stealth. The Vortec model must be used because the intake ports of the L31 heads will not match up properly to an early intake manifold. Not enough meat to make the gasket seal. There will be numbskulls who will do it anyway.

Will work fine for hauling grandma to Bingo, but not enough carburetor for a performance motor. 350 needs a 750. 383 needs more.

Will work with 9.50:1 to 10.75:1 static compression ratio. Roller rockers ok.

1 5/8" fine for 350 or smaller. 383 needs 1 3/4" headers in my opinion.

    2500 might work better.

If you would like for me and some of the other fellows on the board to change some of the stuff around to make a better combination, we could probably be enticed to do so. Then we'll run a DynoSim to prove out the combo. What do you say fellows?.....

Yea that would be good. I really dont have my heart set on a 383. But a local machine shops are estimating 1200$ to rebuild my limited stock bottom end with hyperutectic pistons. I saw the eagle 383 kit for 945 so thats why it caught my attention. This will be my daily driver for a while, so street ability is important. I suppose I could use the money saved on the head work to go towards a scat rotating assy. I wont start this build for a few months, but when I start I plan to be done fairly soon because it has to get me to work
