Edelbrock Hydro lifters-valve lash??.
Friend of mine asked the following question:
Anybody ever install an Edelbrock cam and hydro roller lifters using their instructions for adjusting the lifters? They warn NOT to pump the new lifters before adjusting. They then have you bring the exhaust valve to just rising and adjust the intake. Bring the intake to it's lowest travel and adjust the exhaust. Bring each to 0 lash plus a half turn. Repeat for 7 other cylinders. Needless to say by the time you are done, all the rockers are loose because they compressed with no oil in them. Very disconcerting.
I am asking for some input for you guys please.Last edited by 1gary; 10-10-2010 at 07:52 AM.

That sounds correct to me. GM use to recommend a similar procedure with their flat tappet hydraulic lifters in the sbc. Only they would recommend 3/4 of a turn after zero lash, this was because the full travel of adjustment through the lifter was 1 1/4 turns.______________________________________
The road is long with many a winding turn.

That is what I told my friend too.he bought the Edelbrock part #3702 cam and kit.Found it interesting that Edelbrock warns against using stock cam gear and chain in later yrs because GM has machined them retarded.Good Bye
