    Question Questions About Ignition Systems

i have a chance to buy a mallory ignition box for 80 dollars, still in the box. i know that an ignition box creates a hotter spark. i was wondering how much of a benefit it would be to have on my truck. the truck has a 350 with vortec heads, flatop pistons, and a comp mutha thumpr cam. it has a stock distributor on it now but i was wondering if i should get a better distributor to go with the ignition box. i'm 17 and haven't really done any work with ignition systems yet so i'd like to learn more about it. thanks!

What is the part number on the box? If you're running a stock HEI distributor now, they work fine on the street--a good ignition box just makes it better...

Welcome to CHR! Could do an intro thread and let us know who you are and what you're running....

Not sure about the box you are considering but one of the main performance advantages of digital systems isn't just a hotter spark but multiple sparks. helps completely burn your air/fuel mixture and 80 bucks is a good deal. keep in mind you'll probably need a couple wiring adapters if they aren't in the box. Just food for thought, good luck with it.
