I used a deep socket and a big block of wood with a hole all the way thru it.
I always thought that it took a lot of the shock out of the beating I had to give them to get them out. That old Dodge Big Block 440 mag used to like eating them universal's and with the 4200 pound weight and 410 gears and 3800 stall probably didn't help them much.
