Belt rub on upper pulley 383 SBC
Recently purchased car with 383 sbc think, has large diameter harmonic balancer, longshaft water pump, newer style aluminum double groove pulleys with slotted holes in upper pulley, stock alternator, stock ps pump, world heads.close to stock belt size that was discontinued by Goodyear, put GatesAG belt on same lenght, not much more play for longer belt adjustment on ps pump.belt rubs on top pulley going up to powersteering pump, any ideas on what I could do to remedy problem, possibly smaller pulleys,oh also no fan blade has electric fans thks!Last edited by GN Regal 83; 04-03-2011 at 11:49 PM.

may be as simple as going with a smaller width belt if the rub is not much .. i`ve not looked at belts for a long time but the gates #`S get wider as the number get bigger .. a 4500 is wider than a 3500 .. the 3500 will slip farther into the grooveiv`e used up all my sick days at work .. can i call in dead ?
