intake manifold
I have a 1970 base corvette. It's an automatic , 350/300hp. It's all original but I am considering modifying a few things for added horsepower, keeping the original parts so I could switch back if I intend to sell down the road. What are some things I could do? I have looked into intake manifolds, headers and mufflers to pick some speed up. I have the base hood so I know finding an intake that will fit(low profile) will tke some looking into. I have a edelbrock 750 carb, spread bore. Will changing these things give me noticable difference, or would I have to go further with it?

The engine has been rebuilt recently and mechanically it runs great. I want to have it around for a while so I'm not interested in running nitrous.

Headers and an updated exhaust would be a good choice, also look into recurving the distrbutor. Depending on how much money you want to spend and how far you want to go into the motor; a matched cam, intake, carb and even cylinder head swap would be something to consider. There are a number of companies that offer matched packages That would have been good to do when it was rebuilt, but still not too late if you really want to do it. Another choice that might be worth considering is taking the original motor out and sealing it up nicely in case you want to put it back to original, then putting a good strong crate motor of some kind in. Another instant performance boost would be lower rear gears and a looser torque converter. Those will make it less fuel efficient for sure, but sounds like this is not your daily driver.
Good luck
PatOf course, that's just my opinion, I could be wrong!

All great ideas. I have toyed with the idea of swapping the engine, but think I'll stay with the one that's in it. I finished the restoration someone started. All the parts included were original and I've tried to replace with original parts when possible. I like the car, it turned out great. I do wish it had more pep and wanted to get it without changing the original apperance too bad, or be able to swap it back in a weekend.
