More oil filter clearance problem
I may have posted this to the wrong forum so here it is again
I just re powered my 1930 Model A which I built 43 years ago. Back then I used a Chevy 265 V8. I replaced it with a
350 but have clearance problems between my steering box and oil filter. Corvette used to have an offset filter adapter which would work great but they are no longer available. Any other suggestions? Don't want to use a remote as it is pretty busy in this area with steering box and clutch slave cylinder. Someone must make an adapter to use a smaller diameter filter. I only need about an inch for clearance. Suggestions appreciated.

Wow I thought I replyed to this yesterday???? Anyway Look at 99 suburban 4x4 5.7 oil filter its smaller and on an angle so GM must have an adaptor for that as I don't see them casting a different block for suburbans.Charlie

No one gets too picky here about questions being in the right box. Charlie's suggestion sounds promising (both times), but did you look at the adapter from Speedway in your other post, here Oil filter problem?? Where do you need the inch, length or diameter? A picture might help...Last edited by rspears; 11-21-2011 at 01:08 PM.

HEY>Did look at angle adapter and although I think it might work, I was hoping to maybe just find an adapter that would allow me to just use a smaller diameter filter in the same location and orientation as is stock, I haven't found anything on the Suburban filter adapter yet but I am looking. I will try to take a pic shortly and post but for the moment just picture spinning on a filter that is about an inch less in diameter than the stock one and although we all know it would not seal, I would have the clearance I need. The angle unit may cause the filter to be way to close to the headers as it would have to face front because of clutch slave cylinder behind filter. A remote is an option but as I said things are pretty busy in this corner and it would be a stretch to make the line connections and routing in a clean and elegant manner. The corvette unit actually offsets the filter to almost touching the pan. S10 to V8 swaps have been using this for years but I have not been able to locate one for my use. If anyone has one of these, let me know. Thanks PJM

Looked these up and called JTR re Stealth parts and they told me that GM is no longer making the offset adapter and they have sold out what they had with no future stock available. So it looks like I am back to looking for a used one or someone who has one that they bought and didn't use. Thanks for your input. Anybody got any other
suggestions.

I still think you could contact or go to a bone yard and get what you need off a suburban (4x4 99).. The filters are probably 1" or more smaller in dia.Charlie

I will try that but I have been checking on line and what I am seeing is everything is set up for oil coolers and looks too big. I will check with GM parts and see what they say.
