carb lacks fuel at start up
hello
i have a 71 350 chevy it has a edlebrock performer
manifold and performer carb with a mild crane street cam
my problem is if i let the car sit for more than 2 days
after driving around i have to pump the throttle and
let the engine turn before it fires up or if i put a little
gas down the carb then it will start right up that way.
the engine runs perfect it now has 260 miles on it.
do you think it is the floats.

I'm not familar with the edelbrock carbs but the simptoms you describe where a common problem on the quadrajets (one of the few they had) after sitting overnight the well plugs would leak draining the fuel from the float bowl so you would hafta crank the engine till the pump refilled the float bowls. I would call Edelbrocks tech line @ 1-800-416-8628 and see if there is something that could be leaking the bowls down. ( TOMCO had a fix for the quadrajets)

I has a 600 edelbrock performer carb give me the same problem. The float level is adjusted by bending the float level arm. Be sure the float is removed fron carb so needle & seal assy isn't damaged. The hard starting is causes by to low of float level causing the primary jets to be uncovered.Keep smiling, it only hurts when you think it does!
Thank you Roger. .
