Decked Block
I have recently purchased a 4 bolt chevy 350 decked block. I have a good set of chevy HP heads that match that I purchased seperatly. I would like to know if anyone has had problems or suggestions on what I need to do to match it up with a good Intake that will not have a gap. I am also looking for a good top end set up with roller rockers. I understand with a decked block, I will need to check valve clearence.

My block came out of a 410 sprint car. It's had the crap decked out of it. Deck height right now is 8.989". I chose for ease of rebuild if needed, to run an off the shelf pistons. My pistons are .030" out of the hole. I want .040" quench, thus I bought .070" Cometic MLS head gaskets. I have a static compression on 8.52:1, perfect for my needs. The intake fits perfect. No machine work done to it or the block china walls. I've also got .200" piston to valve clearance. Just takes a little planning and doing some math here and there. Also, test fit everything, don't assume everything is golden. Hope this helps you out.Keith
I keep telling myself, it's only money!

Decked
I am running flat tops .030 and the heads are not cut. So I can just use oversize gaskets and it will not change my choice of intake. I would like to use an edlebrock dual plane high riser.

were is the deck ? were is the CH of the pistons ? intake can be cut to fit. head gasket do not play in the the head or intake .only heads if the pistons are hanging out of the deck so then you need room for the piston s think of it as a elevator built for a 4 story building and now your block is 3 3/4 story building your piston are threw the roofLast edited by pat mccarthy; 03-06-2012 at 07:15 PM.

here is how i deck a block .i will start with a 350 chevy . pistons flat top KB 228 CH 1.561 rod 5.700 stroke 3.480 deck at O would need to be 9.001 deck if your using a rebuilt rods they can be Ez under size buy abit from the resize of the big end of the rod that hold the rod bearing as the bore of the rod get cuts so it can be resize so a rod 5.700 can be .002 under over all size 5.698 this is nit picking but it called stack and can add up as well as stroke could be off abit to and piston pin to piston deck . you need about 040 of room so the piston will not crash in the head so if lets say you .010 up out of the hole you would need at least a 050 head gasket abit more would not hurt it the pistons to wall is bigLast edited by pat mccarthy; 03-06-2012 at 07:52 PM.

Thanks Decked!
Ok gang. It's been awhile. With everything that was going on taking care of my mom's affairs and making a few needed mods to the Healey, it was June before anything really got rolling on this...
