help me pick a cam
looking for a little input on a cheap build im doing for my beater racecars. basically we throw a rollcage in a big old gm and race arounds a 3/8 mile oval and smash into eachother and the winner is the last car running. its great fun and we do get going pretty fast and i like to have the power to push people or be able to out run them. the motor im going to use will be built out of stuff i already have that will be no big deal if i blow it up. starting with a stock 350 with dished pistons and smog small vavle 991 heads. plan on going over it with a gasket set and throw on some 416 casting 305 heads and a performer intake along with my cirlce track prepped 500cfm rochester 2g carb. the cars i typically run are big 70 and 80s gms but sometimes smaller g-bodys or a-bodys and i dont always do gear swaps so could be 2.73s or worse on occasion. basically i need low end torque and i know the heads im running should run out of steam by 4500rpm, so i was thinking something like a comp 4x4 cam would be a nice choice to make great torque from 2-3000 area and pull hard up to about 4500. im looking for something "on the cheap" so if you know of a cam that will get me what im looking for im open to any suggestions or ideas. let me know what you guys think, thanks.

Have a gas station/lube shop sponsor fuel and oils so usually some 91 octane with whatever octane boost they give me or just 91 itself.

Get an Isky # 201262 hydraulic flat tappet camshaft. It has 262 degrees advertised duration , 208 degrees duration @ 0.050", 108 degrees lobe center, and 0.435" valve lift. You can run stock rocker arms with that little of valve lift. Makes good low end torque and pulls strong thouugh 5500 RPM.
