    IROC TPI vs LT1 EFI

    hello all,
i am new here and just thought i would give you a little back ground of the project and future goals. so me and my dad had a 75 small block chevy 350 that has been board out .030 just laying around and i thought what would be cooler than a pint sized truck powered by a chevy? so we decided to stuff the engine into my 1990 toyota pickup and build a street/stip truck. it is now up and running and runs a 14.4 in the 1/4 with 3.07 gears and an open rear diff. hopefully soon it will be changed to an lsd with 4.10's.
so now with all that being said it's carb'd right now with an edlebrock torker II intake and 650cfm edlebrock carb. im starting this thread for a couple reasons; i need hood clearance, want to go fuel injected (already have megasquirt), and plan on running nitrous very soon.

so to the question. which intake is better for a Naturally Aspirated engine? (well, and nitrous)

i have been up in the air on which intake to use i have a LT1 EFI mini ram intake manifold in my possession and plan to modify it to fit a gen 1 sbc (75 to be exact)and have read from some people that it's great once ported and can handle just about anything.

and as for the Iroc tpi i haven't been able to get my hands on a complete setup cheap enough but i have read that they made great torque but once it got past mid range and toward top end in the RPMs it starts choking out.

so my question is which would be the better option for flow?
    thank you all
    Jessie

Might be a deal but new memeber Jesse has gear already that he wants to use. His question is which manifold flows better. But apparently there's height restrictions.. not sure if he want to buy more or use his MegaSquirt??

Seems Jesse wants to do some drag strip runs too! In any event; 1= I can't answer his question regarding manifolds, just do not have the Bow Tie experience. 2= I think I'd go with the setup on Ebay, seems complete and should support his horsepower range. 3= I don't know how committed he is to the MegaSquirt setup.

Sorry Jesse if it seems I've muddied up the water.. but we're glad to have your here and if you've a chance, how about a pic or two?

    welcome aboard--

The tpi system are a pain to work on--different angles and such--difficult to change injectors

LT1--- diffent waterflow in these engines--manifold doesn't have water outlet/thermostat at front and there is NO HOLE FOR THE DISTRIBUTOR in the rear---however it is easy to change injectors---

go with the E Bay deal

That eBay deal is indeed smokin', but is also ended, as in Gone. You might check out the new MSD offering? MSD Ignition That is, if you decide not to use the MegaSquirt on your existing manifold.

thank you for all the responses and the warm welcome,
but unfortunately i have clearance issues with going any taller on the intake. i already have the lt1 intake manifold that i plan on modding to work on the gen 1 small block (modding mount holes, modding it to fit the gen 1 distributor, and adapting it to work with the correct coolant passages.) i plan on using my megasquirt on this to control fuel, spark, and nitrous.

my question is only between the IROC TPI intake and the LT1 tpi intake which one flows better?

    thanks,
    Jessie

    ill get pics up soon
