detonation with compression
I was wondering how to tell if ur motor was experencing detonation......I'm running a 350 with 60cc heads and i was wondering what may i be look at for compression(stock deck height)

What kind/size of pistons does it have. Dish / flat top / Dome ....standard bore Oversize?

350 chevy with flat tops and two valve reliefs and .025 deck height is roughly 10.5:1 if you are using a .039 gasket. Now your 278 cam will bleed off a little of that compression but using 92 octane and 38 degrees total timing should be fine.Objects in my rear view mirror are a good thing unless,.... they have red and blue lights flashing.

i was told not to set the timming anymore than 34 degrees max...if i set it to that @ 3000 rpm what should it be reading at idle???
