Thread: Intake/carburetor Suggestions

Hi Guys, I am rebuilding a SBC 283 that came with a 61 Willy Truck. I am putting it into a 51 Willy Wagon. I need to replace the intake and carburetor. Any suggestions. Money is tight. This is also going to be a daily driver so it doesn't have to be a show vehicle or have outrageous horsepower.

Also does anyone have a part number for a spin on oil filter adapter for this engine.

The engines markings make it a 283 from 1964-68.

For daily driving around town you'll want to find a dual plane intake, most folks seem to prefer the Edelbrock Performer series at the moment.. as far as a carb for it? I'm a Holley kind of guy, others like the Edelbrock version of the quadrabog.. or if you have one laying around, even original quadrajets are preferred by some guys. No matter what carb you choose I'd feel a 600 cfm size be used for good performance.
