Test start a SBC 350
Does anyone have a simple wiring diagram I can use to start my 70's SBC 350 out of the car? I bought this engine on Ebay. I used a simple spring loaded on/off switch to crank it with a battery and jumper cables but I would like to start it. I am clueless when it comes to even basic wiring. It came with a hi torque starter, separate electronic fuel pump, an HEI ignition, and an Edelbrock carb with electric choke. At this point, I would rather not spend the $ on a universal ignition switch if I don't need to. Thanks for your help.

Just make a jumper wire with a female spade to hook to the HEI positive terminal and an aligator clip to hook to the battery positive. Don't start that thing unless you've got it on some kind of stand, unless you want to see it do cart wheels across the floor.

Im going to try to do the same with my 350 but mines a TBI. I'm not 100% sure but when you start your probably not gettin any spark to your plugs. You should need some power to your ignition coil than it will go to the modual than to distribuitor if you have the wire that comes from coil. This is how i was going to start mine when I got dont with the rebuild. only issue youll have is your eletronic fuel pump I would have the same problem but i was going to use a spray bottle to manualy spay in in there than just try to keep it going but very rough. IDK if all this would work but if you try this or even figure out another way just let me know for my future use.

Ok gang. It's been awhile. With everything that was going on taking care of my mom's affairs and making a few needed mods to the Healey, it was June before anything really got rolling on this...
