    New and improved

First I would like to say I have watched from the side lines on this forum since 2005 and this is where you get good information... My ? Im on my 2nd motor build and I would like to open up the budget a lil more the car that I would be working with is late 70 full size car ... The goal I would like to be is the best of bolt worlds so I'm looking at the msd atomic efi as the induction. Cubic inch wise I wanted to stay in he 355 or 383? Really would like to get 550 could the best of the best step out and lend a helping hand? And budget for the motor would be 4500-5500

Welcome Gmuscle! Glad you climbed up and started participating. While I don't "do" anything bowtie... you've got a healthy budget and should easily realize your goal! There's quite a few guys that are well versed in chevy and they'll be along with great info I'm sure!

And don't forget the old adage... there's no substitute for cubic inches!

Do you plan to build the motor yourself, or have somebody build it for you, or buy a crate motor?

many engine builder /machine shops like to buy the parts for the build if there building it . one thing is that they know parts that will work and make some money on parts to cover over head of running a shop. so if you want the guy to build engine they may tell you to hit the road if they can not make some on the parts .many shops like me are dealer so it is not more then jegs or summit and you get a guy that know s what parts will work .not a arm chair engine builder on line even if the build is a few bucks more that is just the way it is . i see you PM me, i am not posting on here much .i am not posting up builds on the net or here any more info .i build engines and machine engines for a liven.i just need to find some free time for me. has my shop customers need more of my time.theres many guys on the web that can help with a paper engine . i am happy to help if you do want to build a engine . i did not want to be rude to you and not post back . sorry for the speech.i can be reach many ways if want www.mccarthyperformance.com

Since you seem to want more power fo a 70s full size car and have budjet/plan to go the efi route----I would suggest that you use a Dart SHP block and build it with a 4.125 bore---new block, 4 bolt mains, etc-------

Your in Atlanta so you could source your stuff down at Summitt------------

However, before spending a wad of greenbacks on doing a efi for an early type engine, I would suggest that you contact John Tucker at Southern Performance systems for a kit to put in a late model LS type aluminum engine---tell him I sent you-

I get it pat most def your input is much needed and I wouldn't mind a build from a master mind. The ls thing is future something I would build for power tour something that will hold it value n the end. To pat I don't mind handing over the keys to get t done 100% pm me some prices and lets get it done. Wouldn't mind staying 355ci and again atomic efi
