well im bout ready to start puting the engine together for my nova...still cant decide completely on the cam im gonna run tho heres what i have so far..

double hump heads completely ported and polished...the big 202 valves
    355 block
    alum. flat top forged pistons
    gear drive
    comp gold rockers
    eagle h beam rods
    stock crank turned
    2800 stall(runnin a 350 turbo tranny)
running a ford 9 inch in the car with 390 gear set
    performer rpm dual plane intake
    holly 750 double pumper

few cams im thinking is the comp 284 extreme energy...part number 12-250-3......or the comp 286 magnum...or the good ol comp 292... im also plannin on running a 150 shot....this car is more for pleasure than to run at the track btw...any ideas????????

Not really enough information there to make an informed decision on a cam... What is your compression ratio, was the block decked to set the piston height in the bore, were the heads flowed after porting or just augured on with a grinder???? My usual response on a "which cam" question is to use the Cam Quest program on the Comp Cams web site, and follow that up with a call to the Tech Department at your favorite cam company.....and not just a call to the phone bank at Summit, Jegs, or some other warehouse....

Agree with Dave, not enough information. In order to intelligently choose a camshaft for a motor, you need, among other things, the actual static compression ratio of the motor. To calculate that, you will need 5 values:
    1. Cylinder volume....this can be figured mathematically
    2. Chamber volume....chambers must be poured with alcohol and a burette
    3. Piston deck height volume....this can be figured mathematically
    4. Piston crown volume....the piston manufacturer will publish this figure in cc's
    5. Head gasket volume....the gasket manufacturer will publish this figure in cc's
Can you just shove a cam into the motor and hope for the best without matching anything to anything? Sure, fellows have been doing it that way every since there was a motor to shove a cam into. Or, you can measure everything and do it scientifically with a known outcome. Your choice.

i doubt you would notice a seat of the pants feel difference between any of the cams you list .. if you want oooohh and aaaahh apeal when you cruise up at the car show then throw a big old hog leg thumper in it and grin ..i`ve learned to stay away from nitrous .. i just purge it now and then for the kids ... they dont know i burnout without it on ...
iv`e used up all my sick days at work .. can i call in dead ?

Keep in mind if you are going to spray it, you should have a nitrous specific cam. Like others have stated, you need to provide more information.

Like Lynn said you should have a nitrous cam and with nitrous, turbo,or blower, you should open up the ring end gap.
