Thanks for the pics! Looks like you've got a handful of fun there.
And I don't believe anyone was putting down you're machinest, just kinda hard to know you're particular situation over the electronic medium here...
Keep us up to date with your choice of car too, should be fun to see it come together.
Oh, and welcome to Club Hot Rod, glad you're here!

I appreciate the welcome. Yes over the internet there are always things lost in translation.
As far as the engine, yes most definitely a handful, but I am in no rush. I would like to have it complete this year, but if I do not have the time, no worries. I own a small engine repair shop/landscape supply yard, so this is the busy season. Also the proud father of 20 month old twin boys, so that makes life even more interesting. As far as car goes, I want to make a move soon so I can keep moving along. Basically once I buy my new rods and throw in the crank, im stuck until I have a car. No sense in buying parts that are going to sit. I will strip down my heads and get them all set, but other than that I'll be on hold. Not doing any machining on the heads because it's not worth dumping $1000 in cast heads when I could get a complete aluminum set. Not looking for that right now so I will stick with what I have.
Right now in the car search, being from Jersey I deal with a LOT of rot. Everyone has the greatest roller for sale. Get over to the car and find bondo throughout, rotted out cowls, etc etc. People here do their very best to hide everything. Life is a project, no sense in adding more headache when it's not needed!
Nice 3 window! That 302 was a fun little motor. About 10 or 11 years ago I had a 69 Mustang Coupe with a 302. Had a good time with that car. I did the top end on it but that was about it. Started developing some bottom end noise so I got rid of it. At the time I was planning to get married and didnt need to sink any more time and money into it. Didn't get married for another 3 years after I sold it, so I guess I lost out, haha!

Since I'm in Mass., we have the same situation as you do in Joisey.. rot, rot and more rot! Just gotta keep your eyes open and carry a magnet sometimes.
Thanks for the compliment, I sold my 67 fastback Mustang GT to do this one. It was a 390 GT 4 speed car and I had kept it for some 17 or 18 years. Then one
day I decided it was time to do another one. Something from my childhood I guess! LOL..
I'm a DINK. Double Income No Kids! So it's a bit easier for me as well as having a farm and some outbuildings to move into helps even more.

Don't we all love rot?? I went to visit a 70 camaro a few weeks back. Guy stated it was in great shape. I went down to see it and the inly thing worthwhile was nothing. He said he took it off some kid because he didnt want to see it not get worked on. That was a year ago. In the meantime, he did a great job of leaving it outside, uncovered, with no window glass so anything that might have been salvageable was ruined. Ih and he wanted $3000. No motor, no trans, 4 mismatched bald tires, seats that looked like animals made a home out of, two extra rotted fenders, a dash that was probably beaten with a hammer, and not a solid piece of metal anywhere.
Kids definitely make hobbies difficult but I don't mind. Never been happier in my life. That's ehy I'm not in a huge rush. They won't even be able to enjoy a car for at least another 2-3 years. But I will always just keep my eyes open and see what's floating around. I was dead set on a 1st gen camaro. Been my favorite car since I was a kid, but they are just going for too much right now so I started in on 2nd gens as well as novas.
I bet that 67 moved! My uncle had the same car years ago. He lives down in va so I only saw it once. He goes through them quick. Picks them up for a decent price then flips them. He had one a few years ago. Ill have to ask my dad which one, but some prince from saudi arabia wanted it and ended up sending over his people to buy it.

Put the engine build on hold for a while. Ended up buying a boat so that took all my free time. Now that summers almost over and my slow time at work starts, ill get back on the build. Painted the block and heads chevy orange. Got my plastigage for my bearings so I can put the bottom end together. Found a car, just have to get some money together. Going with a 71 camaro ss. Needs a passenger side quarter, but comes with a gm panel. Interior is all there. Small tear on side of drivers seat which isn't a huge deal. Its a true ss car. Ill have numbers once I go over there again. All glass is included and the windows actually work. Disc brakes up front and power steering. Should be a fun project once I finally save enough to pick it up.
Ok gang. It's been awhile. With everything that was going on taking care of my mom's affairs and making a few needed mods to the Healey, it was June before anything really got rolling on this...
