400 SBC measurements
Anyone happen to know or have access to resources that would have the distance from the deck of a 400 SBC to the top of the lifter bores, the distance between each cylinder's lifers (from the center), the distance between each pair of bores, or the distance between the lobes on the cam?
I've searched the web for every combination of terms I could think and I can't seem to find this information anywhere.
I appreciate any values or suggested reference!

I'm building my 400 for a technical animation, but I can't readily tear mine down. I was able to acquire some technical diagrams and got a lot of what I needed resolved. However there are some values that I need that are not something anyone else would need or even want to know that I'm not sure how I'll get quite yet, but that's further along.
This is the results with new vales, still have a lot of work to do though.

This sounds like a college engineering project similar to one my son did about ten years ago, "build" an engine in AutoCadd such that it can be totally disassembled, re-assembled, rotated to any angle, and seen with any "layer" solid or transparent. His even "ran", showing rotation of all the component parts relative to one another.
Hopefully someone has a bare 400 SBC block sitting around and they can caliper some dimensions for you. Sorry I can't help, but Merry Christmas!Roger
Enjoy the little things in life, and you may look back one day and realize that they were really the BIG things.

As soon as it warms a wee bit I'll take the measurements for you from the 400 block I have in the garage.Ken Thomas

Thank you Roger. .
