Everyone "back in the day" would toss the car in reverse, give it a foot or so then drop it into first and stuff the little pedal onto the floorboard... made for a great smoke show...
Don't tell me no one here never did that one!?!?!?

Last time I did something like that it damaged a good 350 turbo trans..
Education is expensive. Keep that in mind, and you'll never be terribly upset when a project goes awry.

My best buddy in HS was driving his pop's new '66 Pontiac around, and learned that it would really fry the tires if got it going in reverse and then simultaneously dropped the hammer on it as he dropped it into Drive. Then the dealer called pop and told him that the tranny case was cracked front to back, and that they would be ordering him a new tranny under warranty......Roger

I was going to perform the wet test but it seems like from what I'm reading it may not be necessary. My plan now(for the 5 time) is to take heads off and have them gone thru. From there the 3 deuces are gone and I will go to a holly 4 barrel with ? Intake. I'm also going to change the cam to a comp cam(either hydraulic or mechanical) 12-600-4.

WHAT! Get rid of the 3x2s! Come on man, settle down.
The biggest mistake hot rodders make is to confuse tuning problems with engine problems. Spend a little time and learn how the 3x2s work and tune. Make sure you have enough initial timing. Install the new distributor, do a good tune up, blow the carbon out of it and enjoy!

The only thing I'd trade a set of 3x2's for is a set of 2x4's.Ken Thomas

Gotta agree, 3x2's is a sweet setup. Not much looks better, and getting them set up right should be straight forward. Keep 'em!Roger

I do have a buddy who is good with setting up 3 deuces. I will get him to look at them. I just have not had any luck with them

Heck, disconnect the outer pair and run just the 2 barrel.. but KEEP the tri-power setup until you gain the knowledge and confidence to tune the setup yourself!
To bad you're not in Gloucester MASS...
