edelbrock 1406 ?
I have a 400 SBC with Edelbrock 1406 on it. It was running well but sat for about 5 months and now does not want to start. I changed the fuel pump, filter and fuel is getting to the carb. I cleaned the carb and found some gel in there- (yes, I have ethanol at the local pumps here in SOCAL) It will fire up with a shot of starter fluid, but quickly dies out. I did a search and some say to check the accelerator pump, but it does push fuel with throttle movement. I'm not sure if that would effect idle at start anyway. Is there a quick way to check the idle circuit or is there another area I should look at? Thanks.

Thanks, just ordered new needles, seat and accel pump...cheap and probably should have done when cleaning before. Ethanol has caused my garage to see more carbs (mostly motorcycle) over the last couple years should have expected the same for this. Thanks for the reply.

And while you're at it, replace any non-metal fuel line on the car, tank to carb.
