Engine no start help
I’m pretty new to working on SBCs, and just today deleted the EGR on my 305 and put a block off plate on. Nothing fell into the engine, I did not remove any wires, but for whatever reason the car will not start. It turned over and sputtered a bit, and then died after a few seconds, and now it will crank but won’t fire at all. Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

Did you plug the vacuum hose that went to the EGR? If not, you will have a vacuum leak that may be the culprit."Where the people fear the government you have tyranny. Where the government fears the people you have liberty." John Basil Barnhil

I believe it runs to a ported vacuum switch which I did end up capping off

When you removed the EGR valve, did you clean the surface and ensure it was flat before installing the delete gasket and block off plate?

That is something that is done often. My question is Why did you decide to remove it? It sounds like somehing else is going on as that would have no effect on it runningCharlie
