    Chevy Camshaft Identification

Reaching out to members in the know regarding a camshaft I have in the GM tube. I bought this in the early 90's from a guy at work who told me it is a SBC 350 HP Hi-Perf camshaft.
The GM tube has the ID number as 3863151 which correlates to a L79 Cam however the stamping at the end is 920883. The 4 digit ID on the camshaft core is 1529, which if correct I believe is for a 327 engine. The HI-PO color coded stripes on the camshaft end are green, orange and red.
I thought this was a NOS L79 camshaft but the 920883 stamping at the end has me doubting that. Does anyone have an idea what this cam could be?

    Thanks,
    Jim

    Hey Jim:

Welcome to CHR. My information shows your 3863151 to be as follows:

    Hydraulic Flat Tappet
    Duration at .050 is: 221/221
    Lift: 447"/.447"
    Compression Ratio(as originally installed): 11.0:1
    Lobe Seperation:114
    Used in: 327/350HP L-79

So it would appear to be a NOS L-79 cam. The numbers on the front don't line up with anything (at least not that I've found). The key numbers are located in the center of the cam between the lobes.

    Regards,
    Glenn
