quick question on 350 chevy
hey i got a quick question. i'm about to pull this 350/th350 out of my truck and give the guy who is helping me the rest of the truck. the engine will be going in my 1950 chevy sedan. what all should i keep besides the motor and tranny? things i will need and be able to save money by keeping them.....ie, wire harness, ignition components and so on. thanx guys and gals!

tech I think you just took the whole truck away with that list
Might I suggest taking the seats and the carpet if it has some as well??I'd rather go fast than worry about the gas mileage.

as far as the crossmember goes....i found a trans. mount conversion, that welds in, for $27.00 from Yogi's made just for this project. can't beat that. i will be keeping the original headlights on the '50 so i doubt i need those. hope not. all i really need are the absolute must haves to do the swap. i CAN use the wiring harness right? i really wish i could use the radiator but i don't think that even on my luckiest day i could get it to fit under the hood of the'50. thanks for the replies and keep em' comin cause i will not be pullin this until 4:00pm tommorrow.

My '48 is going to need after market motor mounts, and a tranny mount conversion plate (chev's of the forty's) too. As far as what you can use out of your truck, I think prettymuch just the egnine stuff, altenator, a/c that kind of stuff. Your fuel lines and drive lines will all have to be fabricated to match your parts that are in your chev anyway so thats a judgement call. Not much else will cross over as far as chasis and body components.

One thing I didn't see mentioned here is the drive shaft. You may at least need the front yoke for the transmission if you use the automatic.

Thank you Roger. .
