Ok Guys, what do I have here?
Small Block lined me up with a SBC that we talked about already. I need a little help Identifying this beast. By the way, it is already on it's way to being a stroker motor. The #'s on the heads are 14102193 which mortec says they are 1.94 valve heads but does not tell me the chamber size, do you all know what it is or where I can find out?
Second, the only number I can find on the block is V11180J. I have no idea where this number is from but I haven't been able to find it anywhere. We were told it is a .040 over 350 and I can see it's four bolt main. What else do I need to do to tell what it is? I don't want to spend the money on a 305 or a 307 so I need to find out.
I have a balanced stroker crank lined up and I am looking at a CompCams XE278H roller cam so I need to find out the chamber size so I can plan for pistons. Thanks everybody!

Here's a link for the serial number decode http://www.yearone.com/updatedsingle...gineinfo3.html page back and forth from this one for other clues.
The block casting number should be back near the bellhousing mount area on the block.
Those heads are 86-88 efi heads, not particularly known for "high performance" applications. Both my charts didn't show cc for them, but are probably low 70's cc.Your Uncle Bob, Senior Geezer Curmudgeon

Thabks for the link Bob and the bad news on the heads. I am so incouraged by the size of the valves. I was planning on porting and polishing them but maybe I should look for others huh?

Thanks tech, these heads are starting to disappoint me. Ok, so is there any way without going back to college that I can figure what size the chamber is?

A burette, a piece of plexi with a hole in it, and some sealing material. Put about 80cc of alcohol in the burette, station the "nozzle" end over the hole with the plexi sealed to one chamber with the closed valves in it, and "pour" away til it's full. See how much you've drained from the burette. TA DAH!!Your Uncle Bob, Senior Geezer Curmudgeon

Thanks again Bob, I will head to the hobby shop today for the plexiglass. I am curious to what size it is. If it is large enough, I may use them. What is it Tech that makes them undesirable for High Performance?

Those heads are for a 1986@1988 350 EFI . Intake valve 1.94 Exhaust valve 1.5001
Dont know the CC's but they where used in the Impala fuel-injected police cars. Not on the Caprice cause the Caprice of those years where equipped with a 4 barrels carb. The only Caprice that used the EFI was in reality a TBI on the 262 CID.

Ok gang. It's been awhile. With everything that was going on taking care of my mom's affairs and making a few needed mods to the Healey, it was June before anything really got rolling on this...
