    engine tuning

A short history of my drivetrain----all assemblies have less than 200 miles except the GV.

New stock Chevy crate engine 205 HP rating. New Accel magnetic vacuum advance distributor including new plugs and wires. New 1406 Edelbrock Performer 600 cfm carb. Wiend Stealth manifold. New fuel filter before the new carb was insatlled. Rebuilt 350 turbo with a GV hanging off the tail ( had this on my Toyota 4wd conversion and reused with the proper adapter). 3.73 open diff. 265x75/15 inch tires. In otherwords--all new stuff.

I have the timing set at 8 degrees BTDC and am using the passenger side (timed vacuum port from the carb to the distributor. All plugs are firing with no differentiation in color. Plugs are 44T with .035 gap. New packard 7mm plug wires with a stock type coil with no resistor.

Stock exahust manifolds running thru dual cats, 2 inch exhaust pipes --no heat riser-- and Summit welded mufflers.

I use the S-10 type 2x8 4.3 air filter and housing. Sometime I will plum colder air to it. I

Idle warmed up is 800, in gear with brake is about 550 rpm. Idle is good.

After the vehicle is warmed up with the electric choke fully open , I have a carb tip-in hesitation. Happens everytime the carb is back to idle postion--moving or starting. To be subjectively exact---a very slight go, then stumble, then it goes.

I do not believe I have any electrical problem. I do not have anything that shows a too rich condition.

Should I give it more timing? to 10 degrees? At this point I have no reason to believe the carb needs tuning parts.

Having dealt with Chevy's all my life. at age 51, I want to know the secret and would like to be able to nail it and it takes off.
