Edelbrock 27012 intake/Distributor clamp bolt size?

Hey Guys' I stripped out my distributor clamp bolt hole for my Edelbrock 27012 intake. Does anyone know what the correct size should be? I think it was either a 1/2, 3/8 or 9/16, the last bolt I had in there was a 9/16 and that's what stripped it I think. I would like to retap it does anyone know? I'm sure it's the same for all other smallblock intakes too.

I think the hole is a 3/8" - 16 tapped hole which you use a 9/16" wrench on. If the threads are stripped on the hole, you have two choices. Use a heli-coil or thread insert or drill and tap the hole to the next size bolt which would be a 7/16"(providing there is enought material in the hole). The second option means that the hold down clamp will now have to be enlarged for the larger bolt. Personally I would go with the first option.

Thanks for the reply but where can I find the heli coil or insert?

I have seen the helicoils at most of the auto parts stores.
