swap 88 IROC engine to 65 Impala

Aloha, I have a 65 Impala SS, and I have a 88 IROC from a friend. I want to use the motor and tranny from the Iroc, my question is is it possible to do the swap and what do I need to make it work. The motor from the Iroc has been worked, cam headers bigger mass throttle body, under drive pullys and shift kit in tranny. I would apreaciate all the help that you can give..

    Aloha Hwn....

What's up Hawaiian. I got a 65 Impala SS too. I just got it 3 days ago. I also got a 65 4 dr that came with it. I'm using it for a parts car. I'm taking the engine (327) and Tranny (Power Glide) out of the 4 dr and using it for the SS. I was thinking of using a 350 or a 409. What are your opinions on the three engine types, 327 vs 350 vs 409. This is my first project and I'm on my own with no guidance. Do you have any advice for me? Maybe a low price parts dealer where you shopped for your SS parts. Can I see a pic of your SS for motivation? I appreciate any info that helps.

Aloha HWN, I havent yet started on my project. Still trying to build the bank if you know what I mean.. But for your question I personaly would go with the 409 enough power is never enough if I can aford it I would go with a 502 ram jet.

    Iroc

seriously if your iroc is in good condition and it runs good keep it the way it is. IROC's are going to be the muscle cars of the next generation. Since they've quit making the f bodies prices for a nice one are climbing. Hard to find a decent IROC around here for less than 8000. I'd find another motor or something to rebuild and put in it. Then you'd have two nice cars that have intrinsic values.

Thanks for the reply Firebird, I would keep it if the body wasnt in bad shape. My friend that gave it to me has a couple of them and he wont give me a decent body but its kool I'll just put the motor in my 65
