Wich cam to go with?
Talk about the luck, i pulled my Comp High Energy 268 cam out of the block so i could put some lube on it since the block's been on the stand awile and i was getting it ready for finnal assembly, when the cam dropped on the floor and broke right in half and now i have to invest in another one. (SUCK'S) There were some changes after i purchased that cam and would like some advice again. What i've got is a 350 sbc, .030, KB flattop's with 2 valve relief's .010 in the hole, stock rod's, stock crank, World Product S/R Torquer's with a 76cc chamber's milled .010 for straightness, Edelbrock EPS intake @ 1405 600 cfm carb, the motor should do around 9.1:1 to 9.2:1 statick c/r. The motor will be in a 76 GMC shortbed 4,000lbs pickup, with a saginaw 3 speed, and 3.42 gear's, P275R60-15's around 28 inches. A few of the other cam's i've looked at were the Magnum 270, the EX262, the XE268 because the lifter's and spring's that came with the High Energy 268 will work with these other cam's, and there in the same ballpark aswell. ThanX (techinspector1) for your insite. The piston's from KB have a 7.0 cc volume, and i do have both the .028 gasket from GMPerformance, and a set of .041 gasket's that came in a kit. I've called Comp many time's and got some what of a different answer on cam choise mostly steering towards an EXtreem Energy grind like the EX262 because the EXstreem stuff is new tech, and the High Energy 268 is 15 yr. old tech meaning it's out dated and it suposedly bleed's off cylinder presure as opposed to the building of cylinder presure that you get with an EXstreem Energy cam.
Thank you Roger. .
