running boards
Guys,
What is the best brand of running boards or covers? I have seen some that fit the curvature of the frame rail, and then there are those that have a wavy raised ridge at the rail that look really bad. Any suggestions on what are good brands? Thanks in advance.

I like Bob Drake's as well. And you can even buy them from him new with the rubber covers installed already, Oooooooo

I would suggest giving Jim & Jason Smith (father/son) at The Hot Rod Garage a call. They are a Nationally renowned shop who is located in San Springs (outside of Tulsa, Ok) so they fairly close to you.
I have known them all my life and they "know" old cars better than most. Jim has built many 32s so I am confident he can suggest a solid recommendation for you regarding running boards or anything else you might need for that matter.

Running Boards
Hey Jim P, rocknrod, and troy_cryer.
Thanks for the help. I will be looking into the Drake running boards and I will be calling the guys in Tulsa. Rocknrod, keep us posted on your project. I am hoping to find the time to drop by and visit with you soon. Don't they have an all Deuce run there in Texas some time in October?

Yes they do. I'll have to get the specific date for you but the Deuce Reunion will be in New Braunsvels this year. They usually have a good turn out down there.

Seems to me that pretty much all the repro boards out there are made by Lobeck's aren't they??? I used them on my roadster and the coupe and although they do need a fair bit of fitting and trimming they're pretty good."nobody likes a top on a roadster, but it's nice to have one in the trunk when you need it!"See us at www.topsters.com

I ordered the running boards for both my roadster and my coupe from the same hot rod shop in my area, although about 7 years apart, and both times they were back ordered from Lobecks. i was also told by a few dealers at the Nats that "Lobeck's pretty much had the monopoly (at that time) on 32 running boards, so there Y'go!?"nobody likes a top on a roadster, but it's nice to have one in the trunk when you need it!"See us at www.topsters.com

running boards
I made the OKC NSRA show this past weekend. A few of the 32 owners were saying that Lobeck makes the exact running board that was used on the originals. Just what I was told. Thanks to everyone for sharing their knowledge. It's great to have the help available through the forum.
Merry Christmas ya'll
