    32 Ford Windshield

OK guys, '32 Ford windshield. I have a 3 1/2" chopped 3 window coupe body. I want to install a "flush mounted" windshield, that is a piece of safety glass pressed into the black goo with a rubber moulding glued to the edge of the glass. The pinch weld on my coupe is about 3/4" deep, so it won't actually be a flush mount, it will be recessed about 3/8" I guess. I have seen one done this way but it wasn't all that clean. The rubber contacts the edge of the recess for the pinch weld and has to bend outwards to allow the windshield to settle in the goo. Will this work cleanly? It would seem to me that the size of the windshield would have to be perfectly sized to make everything work right. I just don't know what that size is..........maybe 3/8 of an inch smaller than the recess? I'd appreciate advice from those that have done this before. Thanks!

In the text, it should read "bend inwards" not "otwards"

    Bud,
You did not mention if your Body is Steel or Glass, if it's glass , not all MFG's window openings are consistant, if it's too ( DEEP ) you can build it up with glass to space the glass out closer to the body opening, then with the moulding on it'll almost be flush, it may help to look as some other finishedCoupes if you haven't already and then decide just how far out strikes your fancy.
