Who makes a good set of head light for a 32 high boy coupe?

I would ask what look are you going for?
Nostalia?
Hot Rod?
Modern?
Personally I like the larger, stock type which look good on Nostalgia and Hot Rods like the ones Bob Drake and Vintique sell.
Take a look at these sites for those...
http://store.yahoo.com/bobdrake/headlights.html
http://www.vintiqueinc.com/ (this site is under contruction, but you can call them for a catalog)
As for more of a modern look...you will have to wait for someone else to recommend others as I dont pay much attention to those (again, just personal taste).
To me, big headlights setting on a dropped bar make a 32 look totally cool. Just my opinion! To each their own...Last edited by troy_cryer; 08-08-2006 at 09:38 AM.

So Cal makes a light bar for a highboy and I think Lime Works does too. Both are on the net.

We just got a pair of those headlights that Jesse Greening makes.

KennyD recommended the headlights.....WOW are they nice. THey dont have any unsightly exposed hardware since the trim rings screw on.
Not exactly the cheapest but certainly the best.

Denny,
More than $500!!
I know....I've bought many cars and trucks for less than $500 and some of them were really fun. But we're trying to build the nicest car that we can....sort of a challenge to ourselves. Will the headlights illuminate the road any better than a $10 swap meet light? No.
Mr. Greening builds really nice stuff but he wants to be paid for his work. Cant argue with that. I considered building our own lights but his were cheaper by far!! If we did our own, the raw aluminum blank would have cost us about $628.....and we would have thrown most away in the chip bucket. Mr. Greening has the bucket cast before he machines it so he saves a lot on aluminum cost. Had we built them, it would have cost about $2200 total. UGH!

Denny,
I bought a 34 chevy truck one time for $25. When I asked the farmer how much he wanted for it, he said "well, I had it advertised for $50 but it hasnt sold so how about $25?"
I didnt have a place to keep it and had to sell it a couple of years later......put an ad in the paper that said "34 Chevy truck $125, sitting for 25 years, must haul it away"
Nimrods called and asked "does it run?" duh
How are the tires? duh
Is it in good condition? duh
What color is it? duh
Does it have a V8? duh
Got tired of the dumb questions.

I understand about hiding the cars.....I had a 57 Chevy, a new 70 Z/28, a 69 Z/28, and three other cars...with a two car garage....
The wife said "If you buy another car, I will divorce you" Shucks, I had three more cars hidden in the parking lot at work that she didnt know about......she moved on a long time ago....I sure do miss the Camaros.

Being a doctor and not exactly poor even though the divorce cost him he wasted no time getting a girlfriend about half his age and ran into his wife with a girl Young enough to be her daughter and a real pretty 1930 Ford.
She was so pissed he said he thought she was gonna have a stroke.
He had never registered the car until after the divorce or that would have been in his ex wifes garage as well and she was pretty pissed that he was putting around in it less than a month after their divorce became final.

Plus, you don't have to buy off the rack headlights, there are tons available on Ebay, used, in every shape and form.
If you are talking about a fenderless highboy, I have always used a cut down and modified Model A or '32 headlight bar, rewelded to postion the mounting portions right on the frame horns. I then run the normal middle portion of the bar across the front of the radiator, and mount whatever headlights I use to this mount. I like them more than the traditional aluminum speedshop stands, as I think they look more old timey, and they also do not shake going down the road, like the aluminim stands do.
But if you are looking for repro lights, there are tons of places, even like Speedway who carry them.

Check out Route 66 Hot Rod Parts.com , I bought a set for my 32 last year they take 7 inch lights , painted buckets with chrome trim ring with built in turn signals in the trim ring. I don't know what they cost now but I paid $157.64 with shipping , I thought it was a great deal. Check them out.

I believe that Bob Drake has the 32 stainless steel ones on sale for $229 or so but they are back ordered. I ordered mine in May and still waiting. Bob said probably sometime in Sept. (this year I hope!). I have my old lights so it's worth the wait for me and I know they will be right.
Merry Christmas ya'll
