Chrome vs. Stainless Steel
I am looking at front suspension for my 32 Hi Boy. I am trying to decide between chrome and stainless steel spindles, spring perches, draglink, pitman arm, tie rods, and steering arms. Stainless is only slightly more, what are the advantages? I will be using a chrome I Beam, shocks, upper shock mounts and want to make sure all of the parts look good together. Should I just stick with all chrome or will the stainless be more durable?Jason

If you can live with the slight "color" difference between chrome and polished stainless, I'd vote for as many stainless components as possible. As for your axle, make sure whomever you have plate it sends it through the bake process to drive off entrapped hydrogen. The hydrogen embrittles the metal and will lead to fatigue failure over time.Your Uncle Bob, Senior Geezer Curmudgeon
