Plan, plan, plan. That's what I did. And I ordered some of the parts that I knew I would need to get going--gas tank, remote door kit, gauges, etc. I also had the engine and tranny built during this time so it was ready to drop in. I sold another car so I had the money to do some serious shopping. If you are on more of a budget, then concentrate on planning. You can never do enough planning.

One thing to consider is getting things ordered that require the most lead-time.
Some items that can often be a 4-6 weeks are Hoods, radiators, grille inserts, windshield frames, gas tanks, steel fenders, rear end housings, etc.
Get these things ordered now, and if you are on a budget, at least call the vendor you plan to use for these items and check on the availability and/or time frame for delivery on those items.
Good luck.

If you want an expsoed tank you might want to order soon. I waited 11 weeks for a 17 gallon. 11 gallon can be had now but the larger steel tanks are on backorder every place
