Here's one more shot showing the adapter a little better.
It's the smaller round piece, the larger round bit is the face of the con rod proper.C9

The 35 degree ones from Borgeson do have a little more clearance even if it's not evident to your eye. They used to only do 30 degree but made the transition 2 or 3 years ago.
Personally I would get the fit and feel of the wheel/column dead on right and then do what's needed in the engine compartment to make it work. If you make your compromises in the passenger compartment you might end up with a car that's a pain to drive for any length of time.Your Uncle Bob, Senior Geezer Curmudgeon
It's much easier to promise someone a "free" ride on the wagon than to urge them to pull it.
Luck occurs when preparation and opportunity converge.

Go to a third u-joint and a support bearing----or a double u-joint and a support bearing. These steering mechanisms never bind in the shop under ideal conditions. Its when your going around a tight corner, in heavy traffic, at 50 miles an hour, and half way thru the corner-SUDDENLY---YOU CAN'T TURN THE STEERING WHEEL ANY FARTHER.----YOUR HEART STOPS----YOU HEAR THE SOUND OF SHREDDING METAL-----get the picture?????
It's a big pain in the keester, and about $125 more to do it the right way, but consider the alternative.Old guy hot rodder

I simply pulled the column up a few inches and got the angle to 28 degrees. No support bearing required.
When I originally bought the body from Lone Star Classics they advertized it as an original repro. I guess they were serious. Not knowing better ( you can't teach a PhD anything....) I bought their column drop and steering column. These are from IDIIT. The IDIDIT drop is for an original 32 and is actually angled! Did ya'll know this? It has all worked out OK in the end. A couple degrees ago I might have done it better ........ oh well ....
C9x's AL connecting rod drop is awesome. I have a couple of AL rods from a friend's 572 inch NM drag boat. AFTER I saw his I thought I had to do that also. But I am heavily invested at this point and dying to actually drive the darn thing ASAP. Nice work C9x!
