Have You Heard Of This Builder?

Living in Tennesse I ran across SpecialtyAuto.com in my search for a '32 or '34 Coupe. Does anybody have any comments or experience on their reputation as a builder? Also, does anybody
know the webpage or contact for Flatlanders in Virginia. I hear they build a first class product comparable in quality, but not price, to Roy Brizio Hot Rods.

    Thanks.

The first thing you need to know about Specialty Auto is that they use Street Beast bodies. I've heard that Street Beast is getting better, but I think you’ll find that their cars will not have the same value as any other similarly “finished” fiberglass car. The history of Street Beast includes some ugly skeletons.

I have talked to the builder (Specialty Auto) before, and I think that you'll find that not all of the components used in their cars are of "equal" value to those used by some of the other street rod builders located in the South (Bobby Alloway, Michael Young, Mike Golden, etc.)… it sounds as though he goes “low budget” on everything in the car, so be sure to check a lot of references if you are thinking about doing business with them.

    Good luck,

    Rat's Glass...

I believe that Rat's Glass bodys are manufactured right there in Tennesse... A friend of mine has built a couple of Rat's cars and they make a pretty good body...

Here is a link to their web site...

    Hope this helps...

Ok, Since I'm the newbie... Let the opinions run rampant... Who makes the best bodies? I have heard a lot of hype about Downs.....

Toast, I'd have to say that the absolute best bodies I've seen have been made by God!

However, if you're myopic about cars, then look at some of the other threads in the Duece Den forum and you'll see a fair bit of discussion on this topic.

Thunderroad ; there's a great web site 'roadster.com when you get to it scroll about half way down the list and look for " Hotrods and Hotrod parts, their both listed on the same line , but are actually two different "sub lists" this will bring up a lot of information you can use , If you go ther you'll be there for hours, tons of rod related web sites and alot of other stuff too. Have fun. Skiball
